On July 6, 2025, during the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session in St. Louis, Missouri, delegates elected Pierre E. Omeler as one of seven general vice presidents of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the 2025–2030 quinquennium.

Omeler most recently served as president of the Atlantic Union Conference in the North American Division. His prior roles include secretary, vice president, director of Haitian Ministries, and senior pastor within the Northeastern Conference. Throughout his ministry, Omeler has emphasized evangelism, collaboration, and spiritual leadership.

A third-generation Seventh-day Adventist, Omeler is deeply committed to the church’s mission. “We believe this is the only church with the mission to preach the three angels’ message and to remind the world of the soon return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” he said.

Born in Haiti, Omeler earned a bachelor's degree in theology from Oakwood University, a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary. He is fluent in French and passionate about cross-cultural outreach.

He is married to Myra, a registered nurse and ministry partner. They have three adult children and four grandchildren.

The election is part of the broader decision-making process of the GC Session, where global delegates gather every five years for worship, prayer, and organizational leadership decisions.
