General Conference Children’s Ministries Director Orathai Chureson encouraged families to strengthen their faith in God during a recent visit to Papua New Guinea (PNG).

“Faith is everything in our lives. It brings us healing, joy, and commitment,” Dr. Chureson shared in her sermon at Pacific Adventist University’s Koiari Park English church.

Quoting 2 Corinthians 5:7, she spoke about the “Faith of the Faithful” while encouraging worshippers to pray without ceasing, give without hesitation, serve without stopping, and live without regret, as these activities indicate faith in God.

Prior to the service, Chureson visited the children’s Sabbath School classes and was impressed to see the new “Alive in Jesus” curriculum being implemented.

Chureson also travelled to Goroka, Eastern Highlands, where nearly 1,000 women’s and children’s ministries leaders and members from the 18 districts of the Eastern Highlands and Simbu Mission and a delegation from the Western Highlands Mission welcomed her at Kama Seventh-day Adventist church.

Chureson stressed to those gathered that children are especially vulnerable in today’s world and urged parents and caregivers to take the lead in grounding them in the Bible and the Christian faith.

“Spiritual mentoring must begin now,” she said, calling on families to intentionally disciple the next generation.

Chureson was accompanied on her visit to PNG by South Pacific Division children’s ministries director Ruthy Batu and Papua New Guinea Union Mission women’s and children’s ministries director Elis Ricky.

The three leaders also visited Morobe Mission and New Britain and New Ireland Mission, encouraging families to place their faith in Jesus and make the home their first mission field by intentionally nurturing the spiritual lives of their children.
