More than 40 Seventh-day Adventist communicators from across Europe met April 22 to 28 at Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia, to focus on more effectively communicating to both Adventist audiences and to the general public. Delegates to the conference traveled from as far as Iceland, Cyprus, Romania and Portugal, with one couple from Latvia driving three days and covering more than 1,300 miles in order to attend.

Miroslav Pujic, communication director for the church in the Trans-European region, was one of the key organizers of the event. When asked why the conference had been organized, he emphasized the rapid development of communication in today’s society, and stressed that church leaders and spokespeople had to keep up to date with these developments. “Communication skills are an integral part of our professional development,” he said.

Martin Haase, communication director for the church in the Euro-Africa region, said this was the first time a communication conference has been held jointly by the church in Euro-Africa and Trans-Europe. “It makes a lot of sense to cooperate on a project like this, and hopefully we will be able to work together more in the future,” he said.

The international conference attracted media attention, with a Slovenian television crew spending half a day filming and interviewing lecturers and attendees.
