On July 6, 2025, during the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session in St. Louis, Missouri, delegates elected Thomas L. Lemon as one of seven general vice presidents of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the 2025–2030 quinquennium.
Lemon began his ministry as a pastor in Maryland and Texas, later transitioning into administrative roles. He served as assistant to the president of the Rocky Mountain Conference, Ministerial Association director in Oregon, and president of both the Minnesota Conference and the Mid-America Union Conference. During his time in union leadership, Lemon focused on strengthening evangelism, education, and health care throughout the territory.
He has also contributed to the church’s broader mission through service on the boards of numerous educational institutions, health-care organizations, and media ministries.
Lemon holds a bachelor’s degree in theology from Southwestern Adventist University and a Master of Divinity degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University.
He is married to Jan, a career educator. Together they have two adult children and four grandchildren.
The election is part of the broader decision-making process of the GC Session, where global delegates gather every five years for worship, prayer, and organizational leadership decisions.
