EUD 4 GAiN Europe Uncertainty Series to Launch May 30th

Delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, the series will premiere late this month to offer hope in uncertain times.

When “Uncertainty” was chosen as the theme for a GAiN network project in February 2019, leaders were somewhat nervous as to whether this was the right decision. Little did they know what the future held – and how relevant the theme will be as countries slowly work to come out of COVID-19 lockdown into an uncertain new world.

GAiN Europe was cancelled as a physical event due to the coronavirus, but those registered to attend will now have the opportunity to join a special ‘webinar’ get together on Saturday, May 30, at 19:00 CET (18:00 London).

Designed as a series released weekly, five documentaries will share the stories of ten individuals from across the world who have had to deal with challenging life choices – from facing a life sentence for murder, dealing with difficult employment, and questioning what the future holds as a refugee, to the desperate hope to start a family, or the issue of facing the future with a debilitating illness. The stories are real, but so is the hope that they bring.
Two feature films, twenty short video clips, and a book will accompany the series.

One of the showings is “Uncertainty—the Movie,” a short film about fears, life decisions, doubts and faith. It tells the story of a young woman who, faced with an important decision, processes the fear and trauma that has accompanied her throughout life.

A project of the South American Division, the film symbolically portrays the way we, as humans, relate to our internal fears and how uncertainty about the future creates the perfect setting for fears to arise and, in too many cases, dominate us. Fear blocks us. Fear makes us doubt. Fear lies to us. Can uncertainty be the best school to help us learn to live with our fears?

The webinar will also be streamed on YouTube for a larger audience who may wish to join in an interactive program that will include worship, updates on exciting new projects, ideas for the future, and how to best work with a network which has strengthened and expanded during the COVID-19 crisis. Exact details for the webinar will be available in the next week.
