In remarks to Seventh-day Adventist church members in Nigeria, the Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, commended the church for laying a solid foundation for the development of spiritual, medical, and educational work in Nigeria.
The governor appealed to the church not to relent in its efforts to direct the minds of Nigerians to God, adding that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” He continued: “Morality cannot be legislated, but can be taught into the heart through constant instruction and prayers.”
“I grew up to know the Seventh-day Adventist Church and I salute the courage of the pioneers,” Tinubu told members of the Quiet Hour, one of the church’s media ministries. The Quiet Hour is conducting a religious seminar in Nigeria during October.
Tinubu also commended the church for greatly assisting the government in reshaping the morals of Nigerians through its teachings and philosophy of education.
