The Adventist Development and Relief Agency provided emergency relief for people who fled the Nigerian armory explosion in Lagos on January 27.

Thousands of people fled from the resulting fires that destroyed homes and community buildings. An estimated 600 people were killed in the disaster. Many survivors have sought shelter at a temporary camp set up following the incident.

In response to the emergency, ADRA Nigeria provided rice for 3,000 people, vitamins for 2,000 children, basic medicines such as aspirin, and bags of assorted clothing. ADRA Nigeria is in discussion with the local authorities regarding additional needs.

Established in 1987, ADRA Nigeria has sponsored numerous projects in areas including water, agriculture, education, rehabilitation of schools, job training, economic development, basic health, and Women in Development workshops.
