The Adventist Development and Relief Agency International (ADRA) has produced an HIV/AIDS awareness kit in preparation for World AIDS Day, December 1.

The kit provides a curriculum for both adults and teens. In addition to program outlines with stories and activities, the kit includes a World AIDS Day poster, commitment cards, sermon, bulletin and pulpit announcements, and masters to make handouts.

“Since we all live in a world with HIV and AIDS, we all have a responsibility to talk openly about it and to take action to prevent its spread,” says Ralph S. Watts Jr., president of ADRA International. “This includes understanding people with HIV/AIDS and giving them love and support, not prejudice and rejection.”

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), AIDS has killed more than 22 million people and orphaned 13 million children around the world. More than 36 million people are infected with the HIV virus or are coping with AIDS.

For 13 years, ADRA has presented HIV/AIDS awareness activities to at-risk populations around the world, primarily in Africa and Asia.
