Church members all over the Seventh-day Adventist church will able to see the work of Adventist missionaries worldwide through a free, quarterly DVD. The Office of Adventist Mission announced March 29 that the DVD is part of a new initiative that will be provided to local churches internationally. In addition to a wide distribution to churches in North America, the church’s 13 regional offices will also receive the DVD, which they can adapt or distribute according to the needs of their area.
“Many church members feel that when they give their mission offerings they give to a ‘black hole,’” said Gary Krause, Office of Adventist Mission director. “The new quarterly Adventist Mission DVD is well overdue. It will put a human face on the mission offerings, and show how they are bringing hope and changing lives around the world. We owe it to our church members to report back on what happens with their mission offerings.”
The Adventist Mission DVD stories are up-to-date accounts of Adventists committed to “Tell the World” about Jesus. Church members will witness life-changing stories from people around the world, and reports on remaining mission challenges as well as growth.
Video segments on each Adventist Mission DVD will come primarily in three lengths. Ten-minute segments, which the office says is “ideal for showing in [Bible study classes], church, vespers, or prayer meeting,” as well as five-minute and one-minute segments that can be used in other situations. The segments are designed to make members aware of what their church is doing throughout the world.
While the DVD will include some video stories from the church region receiving a portion of the 13th Sabbath offering, several will feature general mission stories from other world areas, Adventist Mission said.
The first DVD is in English, but Adventist Mission is working with respective regions on translations. A short video clip can be viewed online at www.AdventistMission.org.
The Office of Adventist Mission was established at the world church headquarters when the Offices of Mission Awareness and Global Mission merged in 2005.
