Some 4,500 people have requested Bible studies in the past month as a result of an unprecedented mailing of Signs Magazine to residents of Minnesota, United States. The special edition of the magazine, entitled “Where was God?,” dealt with issues surrounding the September 11 terrorist attacks and was mailed statewide to some 2 million homes.
The region’s 65 churches and companies are involved in coping with demand as requests continue to flow in. Each church group has set up a branch of Discover Bible School, a correspondence Bible study center. Every day up to 10 volunteers handle the responses, which are coming in on a special toll-free phone number, by mail, and via a Web site set up for the initiative, HopeforMinnesota.info.
