Seventh-day Adventists around the world are praying for the presence of God amidst the trauma and uncertainty following the September 11 terrorist tragedy, said Pastor Jan Paulsen, president of the Adventist world church, in a letter of condolence to United States President George W. Bush.

Paulsen thanked the president for his warning against ethnic and religious stereotyping following the attacks and for sending a message that “the innocent should not be made to pay for the acts of the guilty.”

“We pray especially that God will grant you His wisdom and peace—the peace that passes all understanding—as you and your administration chart this nation’s course over the coming weeks and months,” read the letter, sent early last week.

A letter of condolence and support was also sent to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani of New York City.
