Thousands Attend Mega Health Clinic in Papua New Guinea

Thousands of people queued in for check-ups at a mega health clinic held recently in the Western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea.

Located at Mount Hagen, the clinic was opened on April 16, 2024, with a large welcoming ceremony attended by more than 2500 people, including Wai Rapa, the Governor of the Western Highlands Province.

A joint effort of the 10,000 Toes Campaign and Adventist World Radio, the clinic is being manned by 426 volunteers, including 86 doctors and 40 nurses, alongside 300 local health workers. Services include diabetes screenings and other medical and dental checks.

Intermittent heavy rain has made the conditions challenging; however, the medical volunteers remain steadfast in their mission. The clinic is set to end on April 26. The target is to assist 20,000 patients during this period.

Embracing a holistic approach to healthcare, the clinic not only seeks to serve the underprivileged but also seeks to embody the healing ministry inspired by the teachings of Jesus and provide an environment for international and local health professionals to learn from each other.

The clinic is being held in the lead-up to the PNG for Christ evangelistic campaign, which is set in the coming weeks.
