Television Ministry Mourns Loss of Former Presenter

Well-known Seventh-day Adventist evangelist LaVerne Tucker died February 18.

Well-known Seventh-day Adventist evangelist LaVerne Tucker died February 18. He was the son of J. L. and Ida Jane Tucker, who started The Quiet Hour radio ministry in 1937 when Tucker was 15 years old.

Tucker, born in 1922, became a pastor and evangelist and served as president and speaker of The Quiet Hour from 1985 to 1993. The ministry, which grew from its early radio focus to encompass television, print, and international evangelistic activities, is an independent Adventist organization dedicated to Christian outreach around the world. Tucker’s son, Bill, is The Quiet Hour’s current president and presenter.

Tucker is survived by his wife, Alma, sons Bill and John, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many relatives.
