At the age of fifteen, Yosselin Ferrer has managed to gather 25 children from Collique, a town in the district of Comas, in the province of Lima, Peru, to hear a message of hope every Saturday. However, her missionary work does not end there; Yosselin also counsels young girls ages 11 to 14 on self-esteem and overcoming temptations with optimism and prudence.
In November of 2020, as the pandemic ravaged the corners of Peru, Yosselin and her uncle Ricardo saw the chaos as an opportunity to carry a message of hope. During one of her missionary visits, Yosselin noticed the interest of two boys in learning about Jesus. She decided to open the doors of her home to meet with them, respecting security measures.
After several Saturdays of study, she noticed that the number of children coming to the Bible Study was increasing, and she was motivated to move the Bible classes to her neighbor’s yard, who also studies the Bible with her. Every Saturday, Yosselin takes the opportunity to teach about the love of God while on Sundays she is in charge of helping the little ones with their school assignments. “It fills me with joy to know that God has transformed my life through the children. I know that they will be ready for the second coming of Christ,” says Yosselin.
However, it was not easy to get to this point. Yosselin recalls that at the beginning of this missionary venture some of the children's parents did not want their children to attend Bible classes. In addition, their school obligations seemed to be an impediment to her ministry. However, eventually, things fell into place and the ministry was able to flourish. "I didn't do it on my own, I did it with God's help," Yosselin says.
Today, she affirms that her evangelistic work is not over, because her ultimate objective is to bring the parents of each child to the feet of Jesus. She currently has two families who have already decided to take the Bible course and is convinced that many more will also accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior!
