A group of students from Peruvian Union University (UPeU) were in charge of planting 1,000 trees in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, under an interinstitutional agreement with the Municipality of Lima. This agreement allows for effective collaboration in the protection of the natural environment, social assistance, and university volunteering.
Green Lima
"Green Lima" is the name of the project, which consists of planting trees in the city, an action that has become urgent for the conservation of the environment.

The university volunteers are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this environmental initiative. "Being a volunteer is inexplicable, and our city needs more volunteers to show the new generations an opportunity for change," says Damaris Ticona, a student at UPeU.
The coordinator of the Adventist Volunteer Service at UPEU, Pastor Christopher Rojas, says, "We need to show the solidarity part of volunteering. Professionals must have this competence to serve people and lead volunteer groups. The UPeU has the objective, and there, precisely, we emphasize the work towards community service."
On Friday, June 9, 2023, the last 500 trees were planted on Ramiro Prialé Road, located in the district of Chosica, exactly in front of the main gate of the UPeU.

In this way, willing and empathetic Adventist university students are making a significant difference in the community and for the environment.
