Special Prayer for Adventist College of Nursing Sciences’ Inaguration in Jengre

On Monday, October 10, 2022, Seventh-day Adventist Church members in Northern Nigeria gathered to pray for the inauguration of the Adventist College of Nursing Sciences in Jengre, Plateau State.

The special prayer session was held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church Hospital in Jengre. Ladi Zhu, director of Plateau State Nursing Services, as well as clerics from other denominations such as the Evangelical Church of Winning All attended the special service. Here, leaders and members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Northern Nigeria were expressed their gratitude to God for the birth of the College of Nursing Sciences.

Dr. Barnabas Mandong, professor of pathology at the University of Jos and guest speaker at the special prayer session, noted that health education remains an integral part of Christian education, which the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide has never undermined. "Health education is a part of God's plan of redemption and restoration to a saving relationship with our Savior," Dr. Mandong stated.

The former commissioner of Health for Plateau State is optimistic that the Adventist College of Nursing Sciences in Jengre will reflect Christ, promote good health, as well as develop character and nurture the students emotionally, socially, and physically.

Pastor Yohanna Harry, president of the Northern Nigeria Union Conference, ably represented by the Union Executive secretary, Pastor Istifanus Ishaya, reaffirmed the commitment of the church in Northern Nigeria to health education and the ministry of healing.

"The establishment of Adventist College of Nursing Sciences Jengre is a pointer that Adventist church is keen to help the teeming youth in Northern Nigeria towards developing career paths that will blend with their spiritual growth and satisfaction especially in field of Nursing Sciences," Pastor Harry said.

Jerisha Kakwi, chairperson of the Technical Committee of the Adventist College of Nursing Sciences in Jengre, is confident that the serenity of the college environment will greatly enhance teaching and learning.

"The existence of this college is a historic milestone for the Church in Northern Nigeria and we are grateful to God for His providence, wisdom and guidance," Kakwi said.

The Adventist College of Nursing Sciences is situated within the premises of the Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Jengre, Plateau State, along Jos-Zaria road.

The college has four lecture halls. Each hall has a fifty-person seating capacity.
