Spain: Successful National Impact Day 2021

National Impact Day was held on May 29, with the distribution of Mark Finley’s book ‘Hope for a World in Crisis’.

Spanish leaders are thanking God that, in spite of the pandemic and the hindrances it has created, the 2021 Impact Day was successfully held in many of the Spanish churches. About 107 of the 161 congregations in the Spanish Union participated (111 churches and 50 organized groups), which is 66.45% of all Spanish churches.

“It was exciting to participate in this activity and to see how the people who received the book did so with gratitude and with the expectation of finding an answer to their needs,” remarked Gabriel Díaz, Head of the Ministries of Evangelism, Sabbath School, Personal Ministry, and Global Mission for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Spain. “It was also motivating to see the joy, willingness, creativity, unity, fervor, enthusiasm, and prayer that accompanied the different groups that were created for the distribution of the book,” continued Díaz.

Out of stock

The churches ordered more than 60,000 copies of "Hope for a world in crisis" to such an extent that the Spanish Union ran out of stock and some churches were unable to purchase this valuable material. For health and safety reasons, some churches will distribute the book at another date. Church leaders plan to connect more and more with communities. They want ‘the light of the gospel to reach everyone’ according to Romans 10:14-15.

Creative ways to share

The pandemic has helped many church members in Spain to reinvent themselves, thus, books have been mailed to friends and family; delivered to letterboxes in the buildings where they live; offered via social media; while others offered it on their WhatsApp profile; some wrapped it up and handed it out as a gift; and some copies have even been taken to libraries. These are a few of the many creative ways to share.

“Sometimes when we give a book away, we see no fruit or hope from it, but the promise is that God cares for His truth and the time will come when these books will be sought [after] and read,” proclaimed a mission volunteer. “We must give them away, we must circulate them ‘like the autumn leaves’ and then, one day, the King will say to us, "Well done, good and faithful servant; over a little you have been faithful, over much I will make you faithful; enter into the joy of your Lord" (Matt 25:23).
