On July 11, 2025 at the 62nd General Conference Session the morning business meeting wrapped with a video presentation on the Seventh-day Adventist International Bible Commentary (SDAIBC).

Aiming to strengthen unity in the global church, the SDAIBC is a series of fifteen books providing Adventist scholarly insight to every book of the Bible. Five volumes have already been published, including the just-released Volume 1.

“We are people of the Bible,” said Carlton Byrd, the president of the Southwest Region Conference in the North American Division. “Bible study is really the genesis or beginning of our denomination.”

The first set of commentary books ever published, the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, was released in the 1950s and included Ellen G. White writings and Bible maps, and focused on explaining Seventh-day Adventist doctrines such as the sanctuary and the state of the dead. However, only an American perspective was included.

“We are an international church, and the needs have grown,” said Richard Davidson, contributor to the SDAIBC.

The new books feature scholars from all over the world who have spent their careers specializing on one or two books of the Bible, providing intellectual and spiritual insight into the stories found within the chapters of the Bible.

Insight from Ellen G. White is also included, as the Seventh-day Adventist Church upholds her unique insight into Scripture.

Besides English, the books will likely be published in several other languages, including Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

“What Adventists have to offer is something beautiful, deep, and rich,“ said JoAnn Davidson, also a contributor to the SDAIBC.
