On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, a special event took place in Talea, a commune in Romania, to mark the completion of the ADRA project "Steps towards the future!"
The main goal of the project was to modernize the IT laboratory and the adjoining hall at the high school in Talea commune, Prahova County. During this project, extensive renovation and restructuring of the IT laboratory were carried out. Additionally, new, modern, and suitable furniture was installed, which contributed to improving the learning conditions for the school’s 37 students.
With the support of a unique funder in the Education and Basic Health field, ADRA Romania proposed and successfully completed this project to enhance the educational process in optimal conditions.
The "Steps to the Future!" project lasted for 2 months and 24 days, commencing on February 28, 2024, and concluding on May 22, 2024. With an investment of approximately USD$17,400 (EUR 16,000), the aim of the project was to improve educational conditions by bringing the educational space up to current and modern standards.
Robert Georgescu, executive director of ADRA, present at the event, stated, "Children and young people are the main beneficiaries of ADRA. We are delighted that the number of these beneficiaries is continually increasing in your locality, and through this partnership, you have the opportunity to benefit from the same modern facilities as those in other places with more opportunities. However, we believe that equality is not only determined by the location of the activity but also by motivation, determination, the proposed objectives, and the personnel involved. It is a privilege for us to be here. Be grateful for ADRA, each of you," concluded Georgescu.
"We express our heartfelt gratitude for the implementation of this project in our school, and we assure you that it is of major importance for both children and teachers," said Cristian Neagoe, mayor of Talea commune, Prahova.
"I am delighted to see and hear about all the wonderful things happening in Talea township, especially the beautiful initiative of ADRA. Through collaboration with the local authorities, ADRA has greatly benefitted the children, representing an important step towards a better future. Students will benefit from quality education, having the necessary equipment for their development. Thank you to all those involved, and may God bless you," said Adrian Andrei, pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church - Muntenia Conference.
"For many years, there have been few teachers in this school, and we have tried many times to find solutions for sponsorships," shared Gabriela Neguțescu, director of Talea Secondary School, Prahova.
"It was challenging, but you are the first to make this wonderful gesture for us. The collaboration with ADRA was extraordinary. The work behind the project was hard, and only those who participated know this, but for us, the result is wonderful. The quality education that we want to provide to students is based on creating a healthy and pleasant environment for classes, and this would not have been possible without the help of ADRA. We thank you all for everything you have offered us!" concluded Neguțescu.
