In a high desert corner of Peru’s Plura Region, a new Seventh-day Adventist radio station is sharing the good news of Jesus with a population of 42,000 people. Since the church’s founding in 1863, evangelistic outreach has been central to the movement’s mission, and for nearly 100 years, broadcast ministry has contributed to that outreach.

During the new station’s first week of operations, September 19 to 26, sermons by Pastor Alejandro Bullón were broadcast and several people accepted Christ as Savior, the station reported.

Radio Nuevo Tiempo Perú put on the air its new signal on 106.5 of the Modulated Frequency (FM), which will bring the voice of hope to 42,000 people in Huancabamba, one of the major cities in the Piura Region.

“With this acquisition, there are already 31 church-owned radio stations that spread hope to thousands of families in Peru, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Daniel Olórtegui, financial manager of Nuevo Tiempo Peru.

The project of this purchase began more than a year ago with the management of Pastor Víctor Vásquez, president of the Adventist Church in this region, and Pastor Jorge Rojas, a local leader of the Church.

“Seeing that the project was progressing steadily, we traveled to the place and, after a month, we were already sure that in that place we would have a new signal in a crisis situation, but also with a message of hope,” said Samuel Saito, director of Radio Nuevo Tiempo Peru.

Radio Nuevo Tiempo's Huancabamba broadcasts were supposed to begin in the last week of September, but operations began a week early. Church members and administrators went up to Cerro Colorado, where the radio station is located, to offer a prayer of gratitude to God.

“There is much to be thankful for, for all those who participated in this dream; but a special thanks to Hope’s Angels (Angeles de Esperanza), who with their donations support the growth of Nuevo Tiempo,” said Olórtegui, the financial manager.
