The Castro Orrillo family, made up of David, Brighit, and their four children, who attend the John Andrews Adventist School in Cajamarca, Peru, made a decision that marked a turning point in their lives. On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the couple was baptized in the Seventh-day Adventist Church located on the school grounds, sealing their love for Christ, which began in 2022.
David, a sociologist, and Brighit, a systems engineer, trusted Adventist education from the moment they arrived in the city. They sought not only academic training for their children, but also solid values. “The school opened its doors to our children, but also to our hearts,” Brighit noted.
Students Who Inspire
Three of the couple's children, Luana, Alexa, and Fabio, decided to commit their lives to God through baptism months earlier. Their connection to the spiritual activities of the John Andrews Adventist Church and the Vista Alegre Adventist Church, which operates every Saturday on the same campus, strengthened their faith. Even Lucas, the youngest, enthusiastically attends.
The four siblings are members of the church's "Centauro" Pathfinder Club, participating in hikes, camps, and prayer weeks. Each experience reinforced their desire to see their parents be part of Christ's people, dedicating their lives to God.
The Long-Awaited Day Arrives

For years, the school's pastor, Josue Quispe, closely supported the family. Although David showed interest, he was hesitant to take the plunge. Not even a work-related accident, from which he emerged unharmed, changed his mind. However, his children continued to pray, asking God for their parents to agree to commit their lives to him through baptism. Their commitment to Bible study and church activities served as a strong witness to their parents.
Finally, on Friday, March 28, David made the decision. Through tears, he told the pastor, "I'm going to give my life to Jesus." The news moved the entire family. "Finally, Mom and Dad are going to be baptized," his children expressed with emotion.
The baptism took place the following day, during the Fifth Sabbath of Adventist Education. Although Quispe had another commitment that day, he managed to arrive on time. He beat the traffic and the rain. He went straight into the baptistry to baptize David. Jesús Pucca, another pastor, baptized Brighit.
Christ in the Home
“Faith is a gift that transforms not only your life, but that of your entire family. It's never too late to start. God works in His perfect timing,” David said, addressing other parents who are still hesitant. His 13-year-old daughter, Alexa, said, “Nothing is impossible for prayer.”
The Castro Orrillos' story demonstrates the impact of Adventist education. It not only educates students, but also transforms families, South American Division leaders say.
