Hope Channel International (HCI) announces the transition of Chanmin Chung, vice president of global media and engagement, to a new leadership role as Global Mission Centers Director under The Office of Adventist Mission.

With decades of experience in media and mission work, Chanmin has played a pivotal role in advancing Hope Channel’s global outreach, and his new position strengthens the ongoing collaboration and sharing of knowledge and resources between Hope Channel International and Adventist Mission in reaching the unreached.

Chanmin joined HCI in 2022 as senior director of television distribution before being appointed vice president of global media and engagement. His leadership helped sharpen Hope Channel’s mission focus, emphasizing media as a frontline tool for evangelism.

“The most meaningful part of my time at Hope Channel International has been witnessing and contributing to the transition from an inward-oriented mission to an outward-oriented mission,” he reflected. “Under President Vyacheslav’s leadership, we have sharpened our mission direction, ensuring that Hope Channel is focused on reaching those who have never heard the gospel.”

His transition to Adventist Mission aligns with his lifelong passion for global outreach. “What excites me most is that my work will still be about mission,” he said. “I will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of Global Mission Center directors who are focused on mission. I will collaborate with missionaries, Global Mission Pioneers, and other church planters through the Global Mission Centers and continue developing resources for outreach. Hope Channel will remain an important part of that work.”

HCI and The Office of Adventist Mission each play a unique role in advancing the gospel. Hope Channel provides media tools to share biblical truth effectively, while Adventist Mission’s Global Mission Centers equip believers with the knowledge and training to reach various people groups. These Centers provide resources and support meaningful engagement, helping believers – and Hope Channel – become more effective in sharing the gospel.

“Both of us are mission entities,” Chanmin emphasized. “We have the same goal – reaching the unreached. Strengthening our collaboration will create even greater synergy for spreading the message of eternal hope.”

Vyacheslav Demyan, president of HCI, expressed his appreciation for Chanmin’s contributions and optimism for continued collaboration. “Chanmin has been instrumental in strengthening Hope Channel’s global engagement through our network of 80+ channels, reinforcing our focus on mission,” Vyacheslav said. “While we will miss his leadership, we celebrate this transition because it enhances the bond between Hope Channel and Adventist Mission. The work we do together is essential for fulfilling our shared mission to bring the gospel to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.”

Gideon Mutero, vice president for Finance, also shared appreciation for Chanmin’s significant impact: “It has been a blessing to work with Chanmin since his tenure as the leader of Hope Channel in the Middle East North Africa region. His deep understanding of mission has been crucial in the efforts of Hope Channel International to serve the global network. I wish him God's blessings as he serves the world church in his new role.”

As he transitions to this new role, Chanmin expressed gratitude to the Hope Channel leadership and staff.

“I deeply appreciate the innovative and enthusiastic leadership at Hope Channel International, as well as the strong bond among the team members and the passion and dedication exhibited by the Hope Channel Global Network. It has been a privilege to work alongside such devoted individuals in advancing the mission.”

HCI looks forward to continued collaboration with Chanmin in his new role and remains committed to reaching the unreached through strategic media initiatives.
