Paraguay: Flood Survivors Receive Assistance

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency office in Paraguay is assisting 4,000 flood survivors in Pilar, a town located along the southwestern border of the country.

Throughout May, heavy rains caused flooding in many areas of the Department of Neembucu. The area around Pilar was particularly hard hit, with many homes damaged or destroyed and crops and pastures washed away.

“After meeting with the National Emergency Committee in Paraguay, ADRA Paraguay distributed emergency food packages and clothing shipped from the ADRA warehouse located west of Concepción,” says Frank Teeuwen, bureau chief for disaster preparedness and response at ADRA International.

ADRA International, the ADRA office for South America, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Paraguay, Asunción Adventist Hospital, and the National Emergency Committee for Paraguay have allocated funding for this relief project.
