For Magali Marín, day-to-day work has not stopped her from sharing hope in her own way. During the week of Impacto Esperanza (Impact Hope) and the distribution of the book La Mayor Esperanza (A Greater Hope), the idea was proposed to deliver copies to patients and staff at the Covid-19 Emergency Hospital in Lima, Peru. Marín, a nurse, took this idea and ran with it, and has managed to distribute more than a hundred books in her workplace.

As coordinator of the nursing area of the Covid Emergency Hospital, Marín is in charge of a team of 45 nurses with whom she has shared daily a reading from the book written by Pastors Luís Gonçalves and Diogo Cavalcanti. Her aim is to strengthen hope amid the fear and uncertainty that medical personnel experience on the front lines of the pandemic.

In addition, she gave each hospitalized patient a copy of the book to offer hope to those who struggle daily to survive.

Changing lives

One of the highlights of this experience for Marín has to do with Fausto Gedeón Curi, a COVID-19 patient who was on a mechanical ventilator for 14 days and on the verge of death, with no favorable response to treatment. With the support of her colleagues, Marín decided to read the book to Curi, excitedly noting improvement every day.

Curi was recently discharged and the first thing he did was thank Marín for having read to him, which he believes gave him the strength to overcome the disease. In addition, he requested more books so that he can give copies to his relatives.

Marín comments that Impacto Esperanza, in addition to giving hope to hundreds of people who are struggling in the midst of the pandemic, has meant an opportunity to strengthen her spiritual life and trust that despite the pain and chaos it is possible to trust in The Greater Hope that Jesus offers.
