Nuevo Tiempo Peru Collaborators Study the Bible with Their Listeners and Viewers

Gloria Aquije De la Cruz has become the first person to be reached by the Plan “Promotores de Esperanza”, an initiative of Nuevo Tiempo Peru to study the Bible with those who request a Bible course through its digital platforms.

“That call surprised me. He told me he was calling Peru Nuevo Tiempo to study the Bible with me,” recalls Gloria, a retired teacher who longed to study the Bible. She had sent a WhatsApp message asking for help to study the Bible, and this was the answer to her request.

Three years ago, Gloria found Nuevo Tiempo in her quest to know God. “I wanted to know about Him, so one Sunday, I sat in front of the television and started searching channel by channel. I was sure that, since it was Sunday, I would find a church,” Gloria confesses.

At that moment, Gloria saw Pastor Joel Flores’ program and understood the Bible in such a clear way that she decided to tune in to the program the next day. Gloria was surprised how she learned to trust God and her anxieties diminished. "I suffered a lot for my daughter, who lives in Australia and was immersed in the addiction of alcohol, and in addition, she wanted to be a mother and could not," she says.

Then she began to cry out to God for the restoration of her daughter, while Nuevo Tiempo supported her through these hard times. Two years later, her daughter had to go live in another part of Australia, where she was contacted by a group from the Adventist Church, and there she began to know God.

Gloria studied several Bible courses with the automated “Esperanza” and has read the Bible twice, from cover to cover. "Despite that, I did not understand well, and so I wanted a guide to better understand the Bible." It was there that she contacted Nuevo Tiempo Peru, which appointed Maritza Coico, wife of one of the collaborators who requested to be a promoter of hope.

The "Promoters of Hope" plan arises from the increase in requests from Bible students to be closer to them. In a solemn meeting, each collaborator promised to serve one person, developing the courses promoted by radio, television, and social networks of Nuevo Tiempo Peru.

Gloria completed the 20 lessons with the guidance of Martiza, and on July 22, she was baptized at the Villa El Salvador Adventist Church, in the southern district of Lima. Her daughter has had a change in her life. Today, she is the mother of a two-year-old boy and expects her second baby. Every Sabbath, she meets through Zoom with an Adventist church in Australia.
