Nigeria Evangelistic Series Uses Technology to Spread Gospel of Hope

Silver Spring, Maryland (October 18, 2023) – The Almost Home evangelistic series began on Friday, October 20, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The series runs through Sabbath, November 4.

Pastor Chris Holland, Hope Channel International senior evangelist, will present powerful messages under the theme “Proclaiming Hope to a Broken World” at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Port Harcourt. Almost Home will be downlinked at almost 10,000 locations throughout the West-Central Africa Division (WAD) of Seventh-day Adventists, broadcast on internet and social media platforms, and simultaneously translated into a number of local languages, as well as French, one of the major languages spoken in a number of countries in the division.

Looking forward to the series, Derek Morris, HCI president, said, “We are seeing God work in miraculous ways around the world, and we believe it will happen in the territory of Nigeria because of this inspiring series. God wants to work miraculously in families and communities everywhere.”

Almost Home is part of the centenary observance of the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria and sponsored by Hope Channel International in collaboration with the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference and WAD.

Evangelist Uzoma Nwosi, of the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference, expressed his belief that “with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our people through the spiritual preparation we have made, God will grant us a bountiful harvest of souls during the planned festival baptism.”

Furthermore, Elder Abraham Bakari, director of the Communication and Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL) departments for the WAD, emphasized, “It is high time to make the voice of hope heard again.” He added, “We are delighted to welcome Pastor Chris Holland, the messenger of hope to a broken world. We are sure that many souls in West and Central Africa will be transformed as a result of his messages from the Lord.”

This evangelistic series is the second of two sponsored by Hope Channel International this year.

The first, Hope for Africa, during which Pastor Mark Finley presented the powerful Word of God in Nairobi, Kenya, witnessed the unprecedented baptism of almost 200,000 souls.
