On September 1, 2025, the Eastern Malawi Conference (EMC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church launched Liwu La Anzeru Akummawa (Wisemen from the East) Online Radio, a new digital platform designed to expand evangelistic outreach in the region.

The radio station was donated by Adventist World Radio through the Communication Department of the Malawi Union Conference.

Church leaders say the initiative comes at a time when many young people in eastern Malawi increasingly rely on smartphones for daily communication and media consumption.

The launch event was held at Malonje Seventh-day Adventist Church in Zomba City and was attended by church leaders and members.

Among those present were Evison Dambula, chief finance officer of the Malawi Union Conference, Sanned Lubani, president of the Eastern Malawi Conference, Innocent Chikomo, secretary, Davie Chipungu, chief finance officer, and Moses Chawanje, communication director of the conference.

Speaking during the program, Lubani expressed hope that the platform will extend the church’s outreach.

“This radio will go along way to evangelize homes and places which no human efforts can do. Communities in our region like the Adventist singing and sermons so much so that already many have started listening our online radio”, echoed Lubani.

The Eastern Malawi Conference covers a large geographic area with relatively few Adventist members. Church leaders say the new radio platform may help expand the church’s presence in the region.

Eastern Malawi lies within what church leaders describe as part of the 10/40 Window, an area where Christianity represents a minority faith.

Currently, Adventists represent approximately three percent of the population in the territory.

Church leaders say the new online radio station offers opportunities to share biblical messages, strengthen relationships with local communities, and support ongoing evangelism efforts throughout the region.

The platform will broadcast Adventist music, sermons, and other faith-based programming aimed at reaching listeners across eastern Malawi through digital media.
