The conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Armenia, which broke out on the morning of September 27th, 2020, continues to be an ongoing armed conflict between the Azerbaijani and Armenian armed forces, with the civilian population severely affected. As a result of the great damage caused at the national level, along with the high number of military and civilian casualties, martial law and total mobilization were introduced.

Through the project "Call for International Solidarity - Armenia", ADRA Romania, with the help of the sole sponsor - the External Mission Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania, managed to intervene successfully, responding to the needs of 550 people from 110 families affected by the armed conflict in Armenia. The beneficiaries of the project received basic food and hygiene kits to meet the great challenges they are going through.

"You look at what you can do and it seems to you that two fish and five loaves are too little. And it is a little! But the Holy Scriptures show us what incredible things can be done when God intervenes and blesses. We also express our solidarity with those who have tried so hard. We thank ADRA Romania for its support, help, and involvement! ” said Marius Andrei, Director of the External Mission Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania.

“ADRA Romania responded promptly to the request for help in Armenia and we are glad that we were able to overcome the obstacles that arose along the way. The challenges were directly proportional to the severity of the conflict there, confronting us with the impossibility of being able to directly transfer donations, because the local banking system suffered, but in the end, we managed with ADRA International to make this transfer and thus be able to support the victims of this conflict. We share with you the joy of being able to help hundreds of people that have been severely affected by the devastation in the area. Everything was possible because of your help and for this, we thank you on behalf of those to whom your help has reached, but also on behalf of the ADRA Romania team ”said Bogdan Stănică, ADRA Romania Project Manager.

"Thank you very much for your support of the people of Nagorno Karabakh. Your help is greatly appreciated. On behalf of ADRA Euro-Asia, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to ADRA Romania and other offices such as ADRA France, ADRA Norway, ADRA Netherlands, ADRA Poland, and other European offices for their commitment and cooperation with the Armenian offices and Azerbaijan in their efforts to help those affected by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, ”said Denis Baratov, ADRA Euro-Asia Director.

The 5,000 Euros received from ADRA Romania covered the necessary expenses for 110 families, respectively for 550 people. In addition to specific assistance to the situation of armed conflict, within the project, each beneficiary family received food kits and hygiene kits, the beneficiaries of the project being from all over Armenia and representing displaced families and families affected by war both in the capital Yerevan and Shirak region: Lori, Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Tavush, Ararat, Syunik, Aragatsotn, Armavir and Vayots Dzor, ”said Anush Safaryan, ADRA Armenia Director.
