Several operations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s regional headquarters in Abidjan—including coordination of ministries—are being temporarly relocated in the wake of domestic crisis.
According to Luka Daniel, president of the church in West Africa, heightened uncertainty stemming from rebel activity within the country has caused the regional office to put into effect evacuation plans. Women and dependents are being sent to Accra, Ghana, Daniel reports.
As uncertainty continues, the church will review the temporary relocation next week. “We continue to count on your prayers,” says Daniel.
It is also reported that a core group of staff will remain in Abidjan to carry on regular communication and limited administrative duties.
Recent reports from Ivory Coast also say the local church members and staff are safe.
