The Seventh-day Adventist Church throughout the Inter-American Division (IAD) is seeking to engage every church member in the territory in a coordinated 24-hour prayer and fasting experience on July 3-4, 2020. The activity is part an on-going comprehensive plan across Inter-America that will mark the end of the Adventist world church’s “100 Days of Prayer” initiative.

The prayer initiative, which began in late March, was initiated by the General Conference’s Revival and Reformation Committee. The initiative directs members to pray for the presence and the power of the Holy Spirit to be poured out on the church and to empower members for mission during this time of the pandemic crisis.

“We wanted to engage the entire Inter-American Division membership and leadership in intercessory prayer to address the actual spiritual, physical, emotional, social and economic needs of members and those in the wider society,” said Pastor Samuel Telemaque, Sabbath school director and main organizer of the event on July 4th. “We will have the opportunity to celebrate what God has done in the lives of His people through the ministry of intercessory prayer during the past 100 days.”

The online celebration, which will conclude the end of 100 days of coordinated prayer sessions, seminars, messages, and a comprehensive media campaign, will represent the beginning of a new culture across the territory when it comes to intercessory prayer, said Telemaque.

“We see it as a catalyst for all the ministries of the church to be carried on the wings of a movement of intercessory prayer that emerged as a results of the ‘100 Days of Prayer’ initiative,” he said.

It’s the type of coordination that will carry through after the closing of the “100 Days of Prayer” initiative celebration, where each of the 24 unions with a designated prayer coordinator will oversee the intercessory prayer ministry in their respective regions, said Telemaque.

Starting at sunset on July 3, each of the 24 IAD unions will take part in a prayer relay, during which each union will be designated one hour of prayer time to focus on God’s intervention during the pandemic. Thanksgiving for God’s blessings will also be offered, as well as specific prayer requests, and more. The 24-hour relay will end at 5:00 p.m. on July 4th Miami time.

The event, which will be webcast in English, Spanish and French, will feature a message from Adventist World Church President Pastor Ted N.C. Wilson, reports of the impact of prayer across the various ministries of the church, and testimonies. The event will be available for viewing at webcast. Interamerica.org.
