The idea for a charity hair salon emerged several months before its opening, when Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) volunteers and members of the Adventist community in Khabarovsk, Russia, decided to undergo hairdressing training in order to provide free assistance to those in need.

With the support of ADRA's Far East regional office director, Roman Medvid, and professional hairdressers Alina Marchenko and Tatyana Apolikhina, eight participants completed a special training course. In mid-June, they were awarded certificates confirming successful completion. Each participant also received a professional hairdressing kit from ADRA.

On July 5, the charity hairdressing salon at the "Kind Heart" social center welcomed its first visitors. A specially equipped room was prepared with workstations, necessary tools, and grooming supplies. Volunteers who completed the training were able to put their acquired knowledge into practice by providing free haircuts to those in need. "This is an important part of our social mission. We strive not only to provide practical assistance but also to give people attention and care, helping them feel more confident and comfortable," noted the project organizers.

The new initiative complements the existing "Kind Heart" center's ministry, where those in need can receive clothing and other essential assistance.

The center is staffed by volunteers who accept and sort clothing, greet visitors, help them find the right items, give haircuts, and strive to provide everyone with attention and kindness. The project team aspires not only to provide specific assistance but also to support people so they don't have to face difficult life circumstances alone.

Organizers believe that the "Kind Heart" social center will continue to develop into a place where people can receive not only the practical assistance they need but also support, attention, and hope.
