Students from Huaquillas Adventist School carried out social and spiritual activities with the families at the ADRA Temporary Shelter.

Second-year students from the Huaquillas Adventist School (CAH) carried out a day of service at the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Ecuador Temporary Shelter Center. They shared donations, recreational activities, and moments of prayer with vulnerable migrant families. The initiative took place on July 7, 2026, and was organized by the school's Chaplaincy department as part of the Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS) project.

Prior to the service day, the students organized a solidarity campaign within the institution, mobilizing the entire school community to collect clothing, food, and personal hygiene items. The donations were delivered during the visit as an expression of love, solidarity, and commitment to those experiencing vulnerability. They also carried out social and spiritual activities to provide support and hope, and to reflect God's love to the families at the Temporary Shelter.

In addition to providing material assistance, the students spent time dedicated to speaking with the center's users. They organized games, recreational activities, face painting, prayer sessions, and conversations that brought joy, hope, and companionship to those going through difficult times.

Participants said the experience left a profound impact on the young people themselves, as they were able to put into practice the Christian values learned in the classroom and strengthen their commitment to serving others.

This initiative is part of the Chaplaincy department's ongoing commitment to developing students who live out the Gospel through service. Throughout the year, other projects will be developed to strengthen values such as empathy, solidarity, and Christian commitment among young people. The goal is to demonstrate that serving is also a powerful way to share God's love with others.

Cristofer Puruncajas, zonal coordinator of ADRA Ecuador Southern Border, thanked the students for their gesture and highlighted the value of the time shared with the families served.

Puruncajas said, "It was gratifying to see how the students dedicated special time to our clients, since throughout their journey they have few opportunities to share, pray, give thanks, or feel appreciated by others. These acts surely strengthen the spirituality of both our clients and the students. Thank you! God bless you!"

Paul Paredes, chaplain of the CAH and head of the project, emphasized that this type of initiative strengthens the students' comprehensive education.

"I am happy to see that my students, in addition to receiving instruction in the classroom, are now putting it into practice. They become instruments in God's hands to bring hope to those who need it most."

CAH promotes these types of activities as part of its commitment to educating students who integrate academic excellence with Christian service. Because when faith becomes action, the impact transcends the classroom and transforms lives.
