On July 6, 2025, during the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session in St. Louis, Missouri, delegates elected Gerson P. Santos as an associate secretary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the 2025–2030 quinquennium.
Santos has served in this role since July 2015. His responsibilities include oversight of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual and leadership of the church’s global Disciple-Making and Reclaiming initiatives. He also serves as liaison officer to the Inter-American Division, the North American Division, and the South American Division.
Originally from Brazil, Santos holds a Bachelor of Arts in theology from the Brazil Adventist University (Centro Universitario Adventista de São Paulo, UNASP) in Brazil, a Master of Theological Studies degree from the Latin American Adventist Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Andrews University. He is also pursuing a second Doctor of Ministry degree in church planting from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Before joining the General Conference, Santos served the church in both Brazil and the United States, bringing a passion for discipleship and cross-cultural leadership to every role.
The election is part of the broader decision-making process of the GC Session, where global delegates gather every five years for worship, prayer, and organizational leadership decisions.
