Friendship Evangelism Brings Thousands to Downtown Rio de Janeiro

Bullón preached for six evenings at "Celebration 2000-It's Time to See Jesus,"

Thirty thousand “friends” met in the downtown Rio de Janeiro square, Praça de Apoteose, for evening meetings from September 16 to 23, to hear Peruvian-born evangelist Alejandro Bullón.

Bullón preached for six evenings at “Celebration 2000-It’s Time to See Jesus,” an event he says was based on “friendship evangelism.”  Commenting on his presentations, Bullón said that “the modern human being who lives today in the urban areas is a sad, lonely being full of fear. We have seen, tested and confirmed that the best means to reach the human being of today is through another human being.”

“It’s friends who bring friends to meet Jesus,” Bullón said about the “sea of friends” gathered in a square famous for the Brazilian Carnival parades. Last Saturday, September 23, the square was packed with more than 50,000, and 570 people were baptized. A further 1,800 people requested Bible studies.  Pastor Bullón stated at the conclusion of the event, that “this was the biggest explosion of evangelism in the city of Rio de Janeiro.”  []
