On July 6, 2025, during the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session in St. Louis, Missouri, delegates elected Elbert Kuhn as an associate secretary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the 2025–2030 quinquennium.
Kuhn has served in this role since June 2018. He is the liaison officer to the East-Central Africa Division, the Middle East and North Africa Union Mission, and the Adventist University of Africa. He also serves as director of the Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS), which mobilizes mission-minded volunteers for global service opportunities.
Kuhn holds a Bachelor of Arts in theology and a master’s degree in pastoral theology from Adventist University Center of São Paulo (UNASP) in Brazil. Before joining the General Conference, he served in pastoral and administrative roles in Brazil and Mongolia, gaining experience in multicultural mission environments.
Known for his passion for mobilizing laypeople and young adults in mission, Kuhn supports the church’s commitment to Total Member Involvement and international outreach.
The election is part of the broader decision-making process of the GC Session, where global delegates gather every five years for worship, prayer, and organizational leadership decisions.
