Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders in South America say membership on the continent will soon pass the 2-million-member milestone. The announcement came at this month’s meeting of more than 80 top church leaders who came together in Brasília, Brazil. In his keynote address, Pastor Ruy Nagal, president of the Adventist Church in South America, thanked God for the spirit of union that exists among the church leaders, and praised all those who are engaged in preaching the gospel in South America.
The meetings ran from May 20 to 22. An important item on the agenda was finding better ways to meet the needs of people who come to the church for Bible studies. “There are thousands who come to the church because they read our books, hear the programs on the radio or TV or receive attendance in our hospitals or schools,” explains Pastor Raul Gómez, executive secretary of the church in South America.
