A gathering of Seventh-day Adventist women in Yaounde, Cameroon, last week drew national radio and television coverage, report organizers of the event. Three hundred women from Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Central Africa republic, Congo, and Cameroon met together for fellowship and training for ministry. Participants in the women’s ministries conference attended a range of seminars, including talks focused on christian living, family life, and HIV/AIDS prevention.

The conference was also attended by Cameroon’s Minister for Women’s Affairs, Bakan Mbog, who addressed the gathering.  Priscille Metonou, women’s ministries director for the church in the Africa-Indian Ocean region, was the main organizer of the event.

Church leaders in the Africa-Indian Ocean region say that women’s ministries plays a key role in evangelism and witness; in the past five years, Adventist women there have brought some 10,000 new believers into the church.
