Work was launched to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Ministry of Women in South America.

They are from different regions, social classes, and education levels, but they have a common love for preaching the gospel. Twenty-five women involved in Seventh-day Adventist ministry and outreach are profiled in a new book, History Beyond 25 (História Além dos 25), produced in celebration of the 25th year of existence of the South American Division’s Women’s Ministry.

The book was prepared by the Southeast Brazilian Union headquarters serving Adventists in the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Espírito Santo. The Portuguese-language book can be read online, and is also available for download.

“The goal is to inspire other women so that they can see themselves in this process, learn stories of faith, strength, and courage, and feel inspired and motivated for the mission,” says Ester Leal, Women’s Ministry director for the region.

Journalist Francis Matos assembled the book. She spoke with the women on the phone and researched the stories of those who’d passed away.

“The first challenge was to limit the quantity because there are so many women who have done great jobs for the Church. … We want everyone to be inspired and motivated to do more,” Matos said. Along with the printed book, audio interviews with many of the subjects are available online.
