As Adventist Hospital Waldfriede announced, donations in kind and supplies (medication, anaesthetic machine, baby food, water, etc.) collected over the past two weekends were brought to the Ukrainian border by employees in a transport vehicle. On the way back, they took other refugees with them. Bernd Quoss, head of the hospital, had organised accommodation options together with Maria Gössler, nursing director.

The Support Association and Hospital Work Together

The friends of the Waldfriede Hospital have been supporting social projects in Berlin, Germany, and around the world for many years. The hospital and the association are currently making every effort to provide emergency aid for Ukraine—to raise aid supplies and donations in order to provide the local people and the refugees in Berlin with the essentials.

Signs of Solidarity and Prayers for Peace

The Waldfriede Hospital also shows its solidarity with Ukraine through symbolic gestures. The blue and yellow Ukrainian flag was hoisted at the hospital, and the building was illuminated in the national colours of Ukraine at night. In addition, the chaplains of the hospital offer prayers for peace twice a week for all those who care about peace and solidarity with those in need.

Waldfriede Hospital

The non-profit Waldfriede Hospital in Berlin-Zehlendorf is an academic teaching hospital of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. It has been certified several times according to legal quality parameters and already received a large number of awards for its medical and nursing quality. Around 15,000 inpatients and 120,000 outpatients are treated here every year. The sponsor is the Evangelical Free Church of Seventh-day Adventists, which maintains around 900 medical facilities worldwide. Among other things, Waldfriede is a member of the Diakonisches Werk Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz, the German Evangelical Hospital Association (DEKV), and a cooperation partner of the Adventist hospital association Advent Health, in the USA.

The hospital is part of the Waldfriede Health Network, which also includes a day clinic, social centre, academy for health and nursing, service company, retirement home, the PrimaVita health centre, Nikolassee private clinic, and Desert Flower Center.
