At a time of national 1uestioning, Brazil’s Adventist Network offers Prophecy programming

Brasilia, Brazil | Leonardo Saimon

With Brazil surpassing Russia as the nation with the second-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, millions are wondering about the prophetic significance of current events such as the pandemic. On May 23, Brazil reported 347,398 cases of the novel coronavirus and 22,013 deaths, second only to the United States, where there are 1.6 million confirmed cases of the virus and 97,477 deaths reported.

To answer these questions with biblical truths and Scriptural assurance, Seventh-day Adventist networks in South America will this week broadcast programming in Portuguese and Spanish aimed at regional audiences in Brazil and the continent. “Evidence of the End” (“Evidências do Fim” in Portuguese) will air nightly on the church-owned Novo Tempo network and related online platforms.

Dr. Rodrigo Silva, archaeologist and broadcaster known for the popular “Evidence” (“Evidências”) program, will host the Portuguese segments. Pastor Jorge Rampogna, director of TV Novo Tempo and Nuevo Tiempo, will present the Spanish-language messages.

Programs will air  on digital platforms and the Novo Tempo Radio Network. Singers Melissa Barcelos, Cintia Nascimento, Jeferson Pillar, and Patrícia Romania will appear.  In addition to this message, live at 10 pm, Rodrigo Silva will provide exclusive content for radio and social networks. Novo Tempo's web department is preparing a web chat every day. The idea is that influencers interview the presenter through a live on NT Play's Instagram. For listeners at Rádio Novo Tempo, Rodrigo Silva will prepare an exclusive sermon at 11 am.

“At this time when people are more able to watch TV, videos on the web, and [listen to the] radio, it is important to bring relevant and differentiated content. These special programs respond to the needs of the moment. All platforms will offer complete content individually. But those who follow through the three media will see a full picture of the message,” said Wagner Cantori, Novo Tempo networks content director.

During the special week of programming, “Evidence of the End” will offer content addressing issues of faith and reason. The week's messages will present a more intellectualized language aimed at an audience familiar with different lines of philosophical thinking. “In this week of messages, we will also launch an 'Evidence' Bible study,” Silva said. “The series will be in the form of a video and a printed or digital magazine.” Each evening’s themes will discuss topics such as the existence of God, the origin of suffering, and the personality of Jesus.

For the Spanish-language broadcasts, Pastor Rampogna said that the themes will coincide with those presented in Portuguese, but with some different emphases, taking into account the Hispanic audience. "We want people to understand the times they live in and be able to make decisions with spiritual implications," he said.
