Rafael Karis has set himself a goal: to deliver 280 copies of the Pacific edition of Signs of the Times magazine in the month of November.

The 13-year-old Papua New Guinea student was inspired by an article in Adventist Record about what people in the Pacific are doing for Jesus. He approached Pastor Garry Laukei, Madang Manus Mission president, with his plan.

“He read that people are doing all sorts of ministry, including giving out pamphlets and engaging in small groups, and it encouraged him to be involved,” Pastor Laukei said.

“He is planning to give the magazines to his teachers, other students at his school, and the mothers and fathers who come to pick up their kids. He also said he would go to the local bus stops after school to distribute the Signs to the drivers to give out to their passengers.”

The teenager has previously been involved in literature ministry, handing out promotional flyers for evangelistic campaigns and Adventist Book Centre open days. Recently, he distributed COVID-19 tracts.

“As the president of the Mission, I am encouraged to see teenagers like Rafael who have a great heart for the mission of the church and are willing to deliver books to the public,” Pastor Laukei said.

“I wish to see many more teens in Madang Manus Mission do the same in the distribution of the books so that we can reach more people in the community.”
