The Amazonas Adventist School, located in Rio Preto da Eva, marked six decades of history with a vibrant Cultural Exhibition, celebrating its rich legacy through memories and tributes. Established even before the founding of the municipality, the school has been a cornerstone of educational and economic development in the region.

A Historic Milestone

One of the school's most notable achievements was the inauguration of the region's first hydroelectric plant in December 1981. Built within the Manaus Free Trade Zone, the plant was designed exclusively to serve the school. Emiliano Brasil, a former student who participated in the project, fondly recalled the experience.
"There was a schedule to monitor the operation of the hydroelectric plant throughout the night, filling the water tanks," Brasil said. "At the time, I didn’t realize I was contributing to the first hydroelectric plant in the state. It was a unique experience."

Students Take the Lead

The Cultural Exhibition showcased the creativity and initiative of students, who were directly involved in organizing and executing the event. They designed models, created posters, crafted costumes, and curated the institution's historical records.

Karolayn Ester, a first-year high school student who led her class in preparing materials, described the experience as transformative. "I divided tasks among my classmates, managed the budget to buy materials, and organized souvenirs for visitors," she shared. "It was incredibly rewarding. I learned new skills and gained a deeper appreciation for the school’s history, which has positively impacted so many lives and continues to educate new generations."

Community Support and Praise

The event garnered praise from participants and local leaders, including Captain Memória, commander of the Military Police in Rio Preto da Eva and the father of three students at the school. "Events like this actively engage children, contributing to their spiritual growth and strengthening ties with the community," he said.

The school’s administrative director, Ruan Mendonça, emphasized the significance of the exhibition. "It is a rich history that highlights the vital role of the Adventist School and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in our community," he said. "This event presented that legacy in a dynamic way, enriching our students’ education."
