Young people from all over the South Pacific will talk with Pastor Jan Paulsen, president of the Seventh-day Adventist world church on Sept. 5.

* Young people from all over the South Pacific will talk with Pastor Jan Paulsen, president of the Seventh-day Adventist world church, on Sept. 5.  The program, “Let’s Talk ... South Pacific,” is fifth in a series of live, unscripted, unedited discussions between Adventist young people and Paulsen. The program will be broadcast from Sydney, Australia. * After heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in Maharashtra, India last month, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) responded to 500 families affected by the flooding with emergency aid and supplies. Government officials in India said the flooding, which began July 24, affected millions and left 1,000 dead, 175 injured, and 25 missing.


* Peru’s National Congress conferred its highest award on the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) July 25.  The Medalla de Honor (Medal of Honor) was presented to ADRA for its years of service to the Peruvian people. ADRA first began its work in Peru in 1965. It is recognized as one of the largest nongovernmental organizations in Peru.

* Walla Walla College, a Seventh-day Adventist institution, again ranks among the nation’s best colleges and universities, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2005 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.” The magazine evaluated each institution based on several broad categories including peer assessment, freshman retention and graduation rates, class sizes, student/faculty ratio, percentage of full-time faculty, acceptance rate, and alumni giving.

* Dowell Chow has been voted the new vice president for finance at Adventist World Radio. Chow has been treasurer of the Columbia Union area, in Columbia, Maryland. At AWR, he will replace Don Upson, who has accepted the position of treasurer of the Northern Asia-Pacific region, headquartered in Seoul, Korea.
