The Seventh-day Adventist Church's Life for Lives initiative stands out as a driving force in promoting blood donation and raising awareness of the importance of this altruistic act in saving lives.

This is a global initiative that seeks to foster a culture of blood donation among Adventists and the community at large. Through blood donation campaigns, educational events, and awareness activities, the initiative has succeeded in spreading a message of solidarity and compassion worldwide.

Life for Lives is promoted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide, was created in Brazil in 2005, and in 2006, was awarded by the World Health Organization (WHO), being well valued by the community around the world.

Seventh-day Adventist youth have set a great solidarity challenge for the month of July through blood donation, remembering that one donation can save up to three lives.

Beginning of the Campaign

To start this solidarity initiative, the Adventist School of Temuco gave place to the first Life for Lives campaign of the city last Sabbath, June 10, making its contribution of blood donation for the Hernan Henriquez Aravena Hospital.

It is expected that more than 100 Adventist youth groups will take part in various blood donation campaigns from Angol to Punta Arenas throughout June.

The Adventist University Youth Group of the Universidad Mayor (JAUMY) has announced its next blood donation campaign will take place at the same university on July 6, from 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

"We expect a great young force mobilized for this solidarity initiative, demonstrating that the Adventist University Youth are here to be a contribution to the community in southern Chile," said Catalina Mella, leader of JAUMY.

Blood donation is an act of generosity that saves millions of lives each year. However, there is a constant need for blood in blood banks around the world to meet medical emergencies, chronic disease treatments, and surgical procedures.

The Life for Lives initiative works hard to meet this need and ensure an adequate supply of safe, quality blood.
