In Targovishte, Bulgaria, Biserka recently expressed her desire to be baptized during her first meeting with the new pastor of the local Adventist Church, Georgi Kertikov. Although Biserka does not attend church services regularly due to her shift work, which often includes Saturdays, she first visited the church a few months ago to purchase a Bible. After reading it, she became convinced that Saturday, rather than Sunday, is God's holy day.
Kertikov was initially puzzled, as Biserka's irregular attendance raised questions about her commitment. He invited her to meet with the church board, which encouraged her to address her Sabbath work schedule. Biserka opted to enroll in a Bible course through the Adventist World Radio (AWR) Bible School platform, as it better accommodated her busy schedule.
Over the course of a year and a half, Biserka completed the Bible course while fully immersing herself in the lessons. During this time, she deepened her understanding of the Bible’s teachings, including the Seventh-day Adventists’ emphasis on observing the Sabbath.
Biserka returned to the church to inform Kertikov of her decision to leave her job in order to observe the Sabbath and her desire to be baptized. Unbeknownst to the pastor, one of his digital students was actually Biserka. He explained that a typical Bible course lasts about six months, but Biserka quickly clarified that she had already completed the course with him. After further discussion, the pastor realized that she was well-versed in Bible teachings and deeply convinced of their truths.
Meanwhile, Biserka's son, Stanimir, residing in another city across Bulgaria, had also developed an interest in Bible teachings. He explored various sermons online, visited different churches, and ultimately became convinced that the Seventh-day Adventist Church represented the true Biblical faith.
The mother and son exchanged their newfound insights, each believing they were being guided by God. They were invited to join an online prayer and Bible study group organized by Adventists, which further strengthened their faith.
On the day of their baptism, members from three joyful communities came together: Biserka’s church, Stanimir’s church, and the Adventist prayer group they both attended. Additionally, a fourth community, representing their heavenly family, rejoiced and glorified God for these two cherished individuals.
