The Board of Adventist Risk Management, Inc. has named Tim Northrop as the new President, CEO for the company and its affiliated Gencon Insurance companies. Northrop has extensive knowledge in insurance after serving in multiple positions within ARM, most recently as Senior Vice President. He replaces Bob Kyte who retires May 31 to pursue other business opportunities in Idaho.

“We as the ARM Board are confident in Tim’s knowledge of insurance and solid financial management. Tim has the ability and energetic perspective to lead this company," said Juan Prestol-Puesan, ARM Board Chair. “He understands the mission of the Adventist World Church and brings a deep commitment to serve. We know that he will use this knowledge to ensure that the Adventist Church's ministry needs are covered. We will give him our full support."

An ARM Veteran

Northrop began is career at ARM in 2001 as a technical assistant in the underwriting department. He worked in the placement department and in field services, now the client care department, eventually serving as manager in both departments respectively. In 2012, Northrop was named vice president, chief insurance operations officer becoming one of the youngest employees to hold that position. In May 2015, he was promoted to senior vice president, expanding his responsibilities to manage ARM’s two international offices in Brazil and in the United Kingdom.

In addition, Northrop procured insurance coverage to assist the growing number of mega health fairs held by Seventh-day Adventist Church organizations in North America and worked with Adventist Church leaders in Inter-America to provide affordable, comprehensive risk financing. He was instrumental in launching cyber coverage for the Adventist Church. His work with international and domestic reinsurance program has provided significant financial savings.

A Passion for Risk Management

“ARM’s mission is to protect the ministries of the Adventist Church and I see that as my ministry as well,” said Northrop. “As the Adventist Church grows, we need to be more proactive in risk managing, including preventing and risk financing, to ensure ministry needs are covered. It starts with education at the local church where we often see the most losses occur, ensuring the stability of the captive insurance company for future church needs and expanding our international coverage for global ministry.”

“Tim has proven himself time and time again in his work at ARM. I have seen his work ethic and his commitment to this ministry. The company and its future are in capable hands. Of this fact, I’m confident,” said Bob Kyte, retiring ARM President.

Northrop holds several insurance licenses and designations including the Maryland Property and Casualty Producer License, Life & Health Insurance Producer License, Associate in General Insurance designation and an Associate in Risk Management designation. He holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Southwestern Adventist University.
