Hawaii state representative David Pendleton was recognized by the Hawaii Medical Association for his commitment to public health during an October 20 awards ceremony. A Seventh-day Adventist pastor and attorney, Pendleton, 33, is the youngest recipient of the annual Outstanding Legislators Award.  “Public health is everyone’s business,” said Pendleton. “We owe it to our children. I’m honored to have my legislative work recognized by Hawaii’s physicians.”

Pendleton has served in the Hawaii legislature since 1996 and is currently Minority Floor Leader in the Hawaii House of Representatives.  “Representative Pendleton is one of Hawaii’s finest legislators-mature, experienced, well-educated, and hardworking,” said Medical Association president-elect Dr. Phil Hellreich in presenting the award.

A former schoolteacher, Pendleton is a graduate of La Sierra University and the University of Southern California law school.
