Three health workers connected with Adventist Medical Center Bacolod (AMCB) in the Philippines are being recognized online after a social media post captured them rushing to the aid of an elderly street vendor who collapsed and suffered a head injury on a busy street.

According to witnesses, the woman fell and struck her head on the pavement, causing heavy bleeding. While many bystanders appeared unsure of how to help, a worker from AMCB immediately opened her bag, pulled out medical supplies, and administered first aid to stop the bleeding.

Minutes later, two more health professionals arrived. One checked the elderly woman’s blood pressure, which had spiked to 170, while another, carrying a fully equipped medical kit, applied additional pressure to the wound to slow the bleeding.

The three AMCB health workers were identified as Keetz Gabrielle Alcazaren, a physical therapy volunteer; Glecy Eusala, a nurse from the Patient Care Unit 1; and Pauline Comawas, a caregiver from Malaysia who carried a medical kit.

“They didn’t hesitate. They knelt on the pavement, spread out their supplies, and worked together as if they were in an emergency ward,” wrote Argie Gallego, who witnessed the incident and posted about it on social media. “They didn’t even know each other personally because they came from different departments, but in that moment, they became one team.”

Gallego’s post has since received more than 10,000 reactions, over 600 comments, and more than 3,000 shares as of this writing.

In his post, Gallego expressed his gratitude: “Kudos to the nurses at BAMC Hospital. Your training truly stands out, with compassion for others even without expecting anything in return. May the Lord bless you.”

A responding police officer helped by calling for an ambulance, but with emergency services delayed, the three continued stabilizing the woman until rescue arrived.

The three, all connected with Adventist Medical Center Bacolod, have since been commended by the public for demonstrating professionalism, presence of mind, and selfless service beyond the walls of their hospital.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of appreciation for health workers in the region, reminding the community of their vital role not only in hospitals but also in everyday life emergencies.
