ADRA, Russian media center receive top ranking
Two Seventh-day Adventist organizations received commendation recently as standouts in their field.
The Voice of Hope Media Center in Russia received the "Socially Aware Enterprise" award, as well as the annual international award for "Best Company of the Year."
The awards were given September 16 at "The Elite of the National Economy" ceremony in Moscow. Voice of Hope speaker and director Sergey Kuzmin represented the center at the event.
Voice of Hope Media Center was the first Christian group to begin official broadcasts in the territory of the former Soviet Union. The first 20-minute program was broadcast on October 19, 1990.
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) ranked 76th on the Cone Nonprofit Power Brand 100 report, which appeared in the New York Times and other publications last month.
Cone Nonprofit Power Brand ranks organizations working to provide humanitarian aid, environmental protection, social assistance, education, health services, and animal rights advocacy.
Other nonprofit organizations acknowledged in the report included the YMCA, The Salvation Army, American Cancer Society and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
ADRA is the humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with a presence in 125 countries.
