Waldfriede Hospital, a facility of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Berlin-Zehlendorf, has again been named one of the best hospitals in Germany this year. In another study involving 2,000 hospitals worldwide, Waldfriede also scored well, according to board member Bernd Quoß.

Already, in 2020, Waldfriede Hospital was honored in the study "Germany's best hospitals," commissioned by the F.A.Z. Institute, and was ranked among the best in the whole of Germany in its category of hospitals with 150 to 300 beds. This study was conducted again for 2021. Last year, Waldfriede scored 78.9 out of 100 possible points, just above the minimum required 75 points. Despite the pandemic, the hospital was able to use the past year to make a significant leap forward to a total of 84.5 points. This means 33rd place out of 101 in the category (2020: 43rd place out of 93).

Much nicer, but also surprising, was the news that Waldfriede will not only be among the best in Germany in 2021 but also among the best hospitals worldwide.

The American magazine Newsweek and the renowned German online portal for statistics "Statista" have jointly determined the best hospitals worldwide for the third time. The study was conducted in 25 countries around the world. In the end, a list of the world's best hospitals and clinics was compiled. The 2,000 hospitals named in this list, covering 25 countries—including the U.S., Great Britain, Germany, and Canada—stand out for their outstanding services, including respected doctors, first-class care, and state-of-the-art technology.

The results are only comparable between hospitals in the same country, as different sources of patient experience and medical KPIs (benchmark indicators) were examined in each country. Harmonization of all data across countries was not possible. Out of 220 hospitals awarded in Germany, Waldfriede took 122nd place right off the bat, making it not only one of the best hospitals in Germany, but also worldwide.

Quoß is greatly pleased about these excellent national and international evaluations of the institution for which he serves on the board.

The study "Germany's Best Hospitals" was commissioned by the F.A.Z. Institute and carried out by the IMWF Institute for Management and Economic Research with scientific support from the International School of Management (ISM). The results of the study have been published online and will be published again, separately, in the June issue of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.). The study "World's Best Hospitals" was conducted by the American magazine Newsweek (circulation more than 1.5 million weekly) and the German online portal Statista. The ranking of the World's Best Hospitals 2021 includes the best hospitals in 25 countries. The results were published online.
